~ Handsome Cowboy ~

Athanasius was looking so nice for church I had to take a picture...he was thrilled. : )  He is the hardest of our children to get a picture and because of that, I have so few pictures of him! That is about the change buddy! :)

~ Building and Baby Chicks ~

The kids and I built this turkey tractor, and we hope to raise a few turkeys this year.  But for now, we will probably put the chicks in here when they get a little bigger.  I would like to raise the chicks in there now but even with heat lamps it would probably be too cold at night.

I really building things with the kids, we have such a good time together.

The kids got 40 chicks from 4H...we have never raised this many at one time! We have them in two containers for now.

Moses thought he needed to take his chick to the living room! :)

Baby Steps in Organization...

I had some time on Saturday to work on our pantry area. I got some things in baskets and made little labels. Since this picture was taken Ive gotten our flour and oats in five-gallon buckets, they sit on the floor under the shelf.  I want to get the sugar in a bucket too. I've learned that those big five-pound containers of whey protein powder make good and free storage containers.  They are the white containers with black lids, I have three, and they hold, popcorn, lentils, and black beans. I would like to improve our food storage but it does take time to build up. I'm not striving for perfection just progress. :)

~ Felicity Turned 9 ~

Our sweet Felicity turned 9 on February 1! When she was born it was so cold, the highs were in the single digits.  It was dreary, freezing, and a little wearisome, all opposites of Felicity's personality! She is warm, incredibly friendly and caring, bright like morning sunshine, and hilarious.  She came to us during such a hard and challenging time.  Thank God for His gifts.

She asked for a hot water bottle! :)

This is how Moses does bunny ears. :)

She asked for frozen pizza with bacon and sour cream and onion chips for her birthday dinner, I was happy to oblige! Eleanor made some delicious brownies that we ate with ice cream.  We always give the kids a birthday movie and this year Felicity's was Kiki's Delivery Service.  It's such a sweet story.

God grant you many years sweet girl!

A Quick Field Trip

We took a little detour from homeschool this morning and visited the Boone homestead near our home. The home of Nathan and Olive Boone was built in 1837. Nathan is the youngest son of Daniel Boone. We have visited the homestead many times but never when the house was open, we were so excited to walk in. I would have loved to be a fly on the wall and see how daily life played out.

I love this doot and corner stair case and wish we had one. :)

Back in the day, this was referred to as the Boone Mansion.

We worked hard to get this bad picture! :)

Eleanor to the rescue! She was worried he would get in the water.

Moses is one lucky little dude!

The kids had so much fun skipping rocks, I love how excited they get about simple pleasures!
